In this role, you have the opportunity to

lead the Emergency Care Pro Business Devices Software Team in its development of new medical monitoring devices used in remote locations, including Military, pre-hospital, aircraft/in-flight, and yachts such that users can provide optimal critical care and patients can be confident of better outcomes.

You are responsible for

  • Working alongside the Director of R&D, Senior EE/ME Manager and Systems Engineering Manager to deliver the departments objectives as set by Senior Management.
  • Building out and tooling up the Software Team to meet the needs of the technology roadmap.
  • Planning and coordination of all the software development aspects of projects from inception, through design / testing and into production as defined in the R&D roadmap.
  • Ensuring that all the department’s activities are being run in accordance with EC Pro’s quality management system and coordinating engineering support required by other departments to achieve the BU’s sales and growth objectives.
  • Leading internal development projects and managing subcontractor development projects involving new or refining and enhancing existing product features.
  • Developing budgets for development projects.
  • Ensuring the Design History Files are being kept up to date through the course of development projects.

You are a part of

A growing R&D team that is driving the realization of technical solutions for an evolving market through the adoption of Philips shared platforms and the leveraging of the expertise of a large multinational, science driven healthcare organisation.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Software Engineering degree from an accredited University.
  • A proven track record in building and leading software development teams
  • 10+ years experience in a regulated industry (desirable: medical devices)
  • A comprehensive knowledge of software life cycle quality processes (desirable: IEC 62304 for medical devices)
  • Experience of working with external software development partners
  • A passion for growing and developing people
  • Experience working with both large and small organisations
  • Background in embedded software development
  • Desirable: knowledge of IoT and integration with cloud based systems
